Description
Purple-Leaf Sand Cherry (Prunus cistena) has gorgeous deep purple foliage that is highly ornamental in spring and summer. This small and low-maintenance deciduous shrub grows up to 2 meters tall and is best known for its showy, 2-5 centimeter flowers, which grow in clusters of two or three blossoms. In autumn, the foliage turns brilliant shades of red and orange, offering additional visual interest in the garden. Hardy in USDA zones 4-8, Purple-Leaf Sand Cherry makes a great accent or foundation plant as well as an effective privacy hedge or screening plant.
