Description
Adam's needle is a species of evergreen perennial flowering plant native to the southeastern United States. It is also known as Spanish bayonet, and can grow up to 8 feet in height. This hardy plant has sword-shaped leaves in rosettes and is tolerant of winter temperatures, making it an ideal ornamental for cold climates. Its long blooming period of yellow and white blooms attract hummingbirds and other pollinators. The fibrous flowering stalk makes it an attractive architectural highlight in the garden. Adam's Needle continues to stand out in the garden due to its drought resistance and tolerance of even clay-rich soils.
