Rocky Mountain Juniper

Rocky Mountain JuniperRocky Mountain Juniper Juniperus scopulorum

Our native juniper has a grayish shaggy bark and is very drought tolerant.  These trees are very easy to grow in a wide range of soil from sandy to clay and in high PH.  Once established, they do not need much water.  Green to bluish-green scale-like foliage is normal on the Rocky Mountain Juniper.  The female plants have fragrant berries.  Do not plant this tree above 8,000 feet.  This tree will grow to 20′ high and 5′ wide.
