River Birch Betula Nigra

This tree is known for its cinnamon, exfoliating bark.  It thrives in moist sandy soil.  Borer resistant.  Do not plant this tree above 8,500 feet.  This tree will mature at 40′ tall and 30′ wide.  This tree is a handsome accent to a blue spruce or Douglas fir tree.   In the fall the leaves are a rich yellow which makes a bold statement.
