Northern Sea Oats Grass Chasmanthium latifolium

This is an appealing grass that resembles a small bamboo plant.  The thick leaf blades form and out of them appear threadlike wire stems that support the flattened coppery-brown spikelets.  These spikelets hold onto the plant well into the winter and make a great accent in any perennial garden.  The mature height is 2-3′ and 2′ wide.
