Red-Eared Sliders are almost completely aquatic turtles, but leave the water bask in the sun and lay eggs.  They will hunt small insects and fish,  as well as graze on aquatic water plants.  They require at least two feet of water depth.  Sliders do not hibernate, but instead brumate; becoming less active but occasionally rising for food or water.
